What is a Missional Community?

A community of Jesus followers on mission with God in obedience to the Holy Spirit that demonstrates the kingdom tangibly and declares the gospel of Jesus creatively to specific pockets of people. 

A missional community is much more than a weekly event. MCs gather together at different times throughout the week to fulfill Jesus’ mission of being disciples who make disciples. Together they learn how to worship and submit to Jesus in all of life by learning how to love one another as family, worship Jesus as servants who serve others, and share the good news of Jesus Christ as His sent missionaries.

What To Expect at MCG

Missional communities are the primary way we begin and continue to grow as Jesus followers at The Passage. Each week you will gather with 12-15 other people who are seeking to pursue Jesus, live as missionaries and submit ourselves to his Word and Will. Each group is different but here's what a weekly meeting might look like:
Typical MCG Weekly Meeting
  • 15-20 minutes of informal gathering, catching up, laughing and checking in. 
  • 10 minutes of prayer requests, open sharing and encouragement. 
  • 30 minutes of content - all centered around God's word seeking to be transformed by the Holy Spirit.
  • 10 minutes praying together as a group for what God is doing in your individual lives and families. 
  • 15 minutes split time (guys with guys, girls with girls) for prayer and accountability. 

FAQ's

Are MCG's open to everyone?
Yes! Our groups are never closed to newcomers unless they are currently in the process of planting a new group. In which case, it will be open again very soon! Bottom line, we want EVERYONE in an MCG. We expect Jesus followers at The Passage to gather together twice a week: Sunday and for MCG. 
Can I bring my kids?
Absolutely! Most of our groups have several kids and some (not all) coordinate childcare to make sure that the time together is maximized. 
Is it okay to visit a group and not come back?
Definitely. We encourage people to find the MCG that's a good fit for them. Each group has it's own "vibe" and it's important to have a strong connection to the folks who will be walking through life with you.
How do I get connected to a group?
Our pastors and staff like to be involved in the process of helping you find your group so we encourage you to reach out to them for assistance and to help make sure you get all the details you need before you show up. Fill out the MCG Connect Card below and we will be in touch shortly.
