Followers of Jesus, who make followers of Jesus.

Welcome Letter

An introduction to the Greater Initiative

In John 3:30, John the Baptist declares, “He must become greater, I must become less.”  While this was an individual declaration, we believe it is the goal of every Jesus follower and every Jesus community. It is with this in mind that we are launching into the Greater campaign.

God opened doors in 2009 for The Passage Church to begin gathering as a church, and we held our first service on September 13th at East Wake High School.  It was an incredible opportunity to join with other Gospel-declaring churches and help followers of Jesus make other followers of Jesus where they live and where He leads.

Today, almost 15 years after we began, the Lord has provided us with another opportunity, and those who are members of the Passage Church have agreed to take this step together. In order to accomplish this and more, we are asking you to pray about how the Lord might stretch you and grow you through participation in the Greater Initiative.

The pages that follow will attempt to explain all that the Greater Initiative entails, but if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or any of the Elders and Staff. We are beyond excited to see how God uses these next two years so that we, individually and corporately, can take steps toward what we desire most…He becomes GREATER; we become less.

Greater Impact

We are currently maxing out our space on Sunday mornings. The parking lot, the lobby, the kid's area, and the worship center are all at or beyond capacity. We will make room for more people to join us on Sunday morning, understanding that by increasing our seating capacity, we will increase our sending capacity. ($700,000)

Greater Discipleship

Through this giving initiative, we will continue our focus on being followers of Jesus who make followers of Jesus where we live and where He leads. The discipleship piece of the initiative will support the necessary infrastructure to continue to grow our disciple-making efforts. ($1.4 million)

Greater Legacy

We will designate specific financial provisions for the purposes of planting new churches locally, nationally, and globally. While we have supported church plants regularly throughout our 15 years, we have not yet taken the next step of becoming a sending church. This initiative will intentionally support the next step as we desire to plant churches that will plant churches, long out living The Passage Church. ($100,000)
