Return: The Book of Haggai
Aug 23, 2026 • Matt Walton
Drawing from the entire book of Haggai, this sermon examines the story of the Jewish remnant who returned from Babylonian exile, laid the foundation of the temple, and then stopped building for 16 years. Through the prophet Haggai's message to Zerubbabel and the people, the sermon challenges believers to examine their own lives and identify what hinders them from walking in obedience to God. Three primary hindrances are explored: grief over the past, discouragement and fear, and discontentment.
