Temptation: Pattern and Defense

Pastor Matt kicked off our Covenant Renewal Sunday by reminding us of our roles and connections as members of the Passage Church. We revisited our church covenant, the obligations we carry, and the commitments we renew.

Pastor Matt then shared a powerful message from James chapter one, exploring the connection between trials and temptations. He illustrated how temptations often arise in life's trials and underscored the deceptive nature of sin. Like the children in the marshmallow test, we often struggle with temptation because we're drawn by desires. Pastor Matt guided us through scripture's wisdom for overcoming temptation by focusing on God’s attributes—His sovereignty, dependability, and grace. The key takeaway is to feast on God through His word and attributes, recognizing His perfect love and the gifts He provides, which are far better than any fleeting temptation.
